Hi! My name is Ellie, and I am training to be a Nail Technician. I have always had an interest in beauty but didn’t really know where to start. From being young I loved doing makeup, eyebrows, and painting nails but my biggest problem was I didn’t know where to start or how to go about getting into the beauty industry. One of my aunties has a brilliant beauty business that just keeps excelling and I hopefully am trying to reach that goal of being up there with her.
When I saw the details of the level 3 qualification online, I could not help but think this is where I should start. I am currently on maternity leave after giving birth to a beautiful boy and thought now it’s time to focus on the future and what I could potentially do, and this was the best start for me.
My favourite subject so far is the luxury manicures. I didn’t know before doing the course that you can have different ones such as paraffin wax and hot oil. Receiving in depth knowledge about them and how they can benefit in so many ways has been amazing. Some of my family members struggle with things such as arthritis and giving them the hot oil treatment has not only produced amazing results, but left them with less pain in their hands because of this.
My favourite thing about the NBA is the people that work there and the people you meet. I went into this not knowing much about nails and being by myself and half-way through I’ve met some amazing people. The staff are so lovely and even other learners who are on different courses are so amazing and give you so much good advice. One person, among so many, who stood out for me was Adele. She’s crazy talented when it comes to doing nails and nail art and giving me advice on little tricks and showing me things that work so much better.
My plans are hopefully to up and run a beauty business of my own. I have started to put myself out there and made social media accounts to hopefully have a start from my business and when I qualify in my Level 3 Nail Technology Diploma, I’m hoping to get a chair or a little room of my own. I currently work from home at the minute or do mobile if I can, but I have my little station in my house and I feel like I will progress.
Doing this qualification I have gained more than just knowledge. I have gained friends, confidence and I am starting to believe in myself a lot more which I never expected to happen. I am grateful for the support from my peers, Alicia and the management team behind NBA. Without their support I don’t think I would have come back, never mind do extra courses on top of the Level 3 Nail Technician course. I was so happy to pass my HD eyebrows and builder gel course and I can only see things going up from here!
